My Favorite Books

Well, not exactly.  For me, picking a favorite book would be like choosing a favorite child (if I had them).  There are so many that I truly love equally.  I am not a literary critic, so I'm not about to analyze character development and descriptive wording.  I can tell that I like a book by the speed which I read it.  I am a speed reader, and can blaze through a good book in half a day.  If I don't care for it, it can take me days or even a few weeks.

My favorite book of all time has to be Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger.  This book made a huge impression on me as a kid, the first time I read it.
Recently, though, my favorite book that I have read is called The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova.  The book is the BOMB.COM, people!  Historical fiction is my favorite genre, and this fits right in.  I also like mystery, suspense, and eeriness to my books.  This book had everything, and I definitely recommend you read the synopsis to see if the plot intrigues you.

Of course, I am also a huge fan of the more mainstream Dan Brown novels, the Twilight series (yes, I'll admit it.  Although don't get me started on the monstrosity that are those awful movies...ick!!), and The Hunger Games (although the third book really irritated me).

I also love anything by Robert Alexander, specifically The Kitchen Boy.  My Grandma, who was one of the loves of my life, was Russian, and I am proud of my strong Russian heritage.  His books are historical fiction set in the time of the last Russians Czars complete with Rasputin.

I also recently read The Hangman's Daughter (another historical fiction gem), and it was wonderful.  The author has another book coming out this June, and I can't wait to read it!

What are YOUR favorite books?

  1. My two fav books are I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb and Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Album. Also really like False Memory by Dean Koontz. And I wil admit being a die hard Harry Potter novel fan; they got me through my bed rest.
